Reviews and Ratings
The hotel is a short walk to the Galleria and offers clean and well-put-together rooms, though some areas are a bit run down. The beauty of the surroundings compensates for occasional noise from neighbors and out-of-service elevators in the garage.
Stay at Hotel Derek was a mixed experience. The rooms lacked microwaves and cleanliness fell below expectations, resulting in multiple room changes due to issues like broken showers and dirty rugs. However, the friendly service upon check-in was a highlight. Location-wise, it was generally good, but encountered some issues on the 3rd floor. Dining was overpriced and underwhelming, though some aspects were enjoyable.
My stay at the hotel had its ups and downs. The location was fantastic, close to the Galleria and plenty of things to do nearby. However, the rooms were very inconsistent, requiring multiple maintenance visits for a non-working toilet and half-working A/C. Additionally, the room had a strong smell of cigarette and marijuana smoke, contrary to the hotel's non-smoking policy. The overall stay felt damp and mildewy, which was disappointing.
I had a nice stay at the hotel. The rooms were set up nicely with a nice pool and seating area, but some areas looked run down and there were noisy neighbors. The elevators in the garage were out of service, which was inconvenient.
